In continuation with last week publication on masturbation we will be looking at its effect on victims and solutions. Masturbation is one common act that a large number of teenagers practice as a result of misinformation or no information on how to deal with the issue of natural changes both physically and emotionally (puberty) leaving them worried and confused. On this edition our focus will be on the effects of masturbation on its victims to start with before offering useful solutions. Moving on, some of the effects of masturbation are as follows; lack of concentration ; could be at school or work the victim is always thinking about sex most of the time and this can start affecting his/her level of performance. Victims mainly lose focus of their vision, aim and objectives. Next is the feeling of filth and guilt; during the act all the victim is after is basically on how to satisfy his/her sexual desire but afterwards the feeling of guilt then comes to play. In most cases they feel so ashamed and dirty of themselves and this might affect the way and manner they see themselves, if not address can lead to low self esteem. Obsession is another effect that cannot be over looked; most of the times victims are so tangled up with the act that all they think about is sex nothing more. Therefore, the more a person is into masturbation the more they person depend on it so the more the person crave it and as they do so the more they are solely into it the more it becomes a habit that they are trap in. As a result they are caught up in one huge vicious circle which if not address give rise to other issues. Moreover masturbation can wipe away sexual reality from a victim’s mind- set and the true essence of intimacy will seem strange to him or her. Other factors are self-involvement; masturbation is a self centered act which makes a person to be so much into him or herself that all the person is concern about is his/ herself satisfaction which if care is not taken might pose as a problem in future. Here comes the question we all have been waiting for; now that we know the causes and effects of masturbation on victims, what is the way forward? At puberty a person matures sexually that means they experience strong sexual feelings and tension, for example majority of them go through nocturnal emission often refer to as wet dreams, an unavoidable reaction to natural body function that cannot be control by an individual. This is simply the release of fluid while the the young man is asleep. Teenagers normally Freak out at this observation so they keep it a secret never to be discuss for fear of the unknown. As a matter of fact is to work on the mind since the thought is the starter of the action, note actions are carried out after it must have been contemplated on in the heart, so to put an end to masturbation is to occupy your mind with important and useful things. With a disciple and ready mind set victims can put an end to the act once they are serious and prepare to take the quitting process one step at a time bearing in mind that habit takes hard work to end instead of feeling sorry and ashamed. Avoid sexually arousing materials like pictures, magazines, romantic movies, novels, some sites on the internet. In addition, try not to be idle like the saying goes an idle mind is the devil’s workshop so learn to occupy your free time and channel your energy to areas that will be of great benefit to your personal improvement, for instance take up sporting activity of interest; exercise is a good way for self control, register with the gym if you feel so or join any game of your choice, taking away your attention from the act and investing your thoughts elsewhere will be of great benefit in putting an end to masturbation. Start reading books that will inspire you to greatness. Be creative, broaden your imaginary skills take up writing, drawing, and painting or begin to learn how to play a musical instrument of your choice. keep your mind from going in the wrong direction at all times then your life will catch up with it, the mind is most powerful aspect of us humans because action carried out starts from thinking about it in the mind before executing it (action) so it is what you constantly focus on that you will ultimately become in life, as a result pay attention to what you hear, the things you expose your eyes to see and most especially the kind of friends you keep, cut off places, persons, or areas that might trigger the urge of masturbation, as you try to put a permanent end to the act. Furthermore, note this struggle might not go easily since it has now become a habit. Nothing is greater than our creator who made us in his own image and likeness, who have also destine us for great things whose thought for us are of good not of evil, take you situation to him in all sincerity believing and trusting him to see you through as you put action into your decision. Start speaking positivity into your life again, appreciate yourself because you will overcome this act. Openness is also a way to get out of masturbation discuss your situation with a profession as well who will guide you through monitoring and making sure that you abide in confidence without blaming or judging you. Learn not to give up on yourself; you can put an end to it.
